1. Reading SDS. Exposure to hazards

The toxicological properties of chemical substances are linked to their physico-chemical properties.

Careful reading of chapters 9 of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) gives a fairly accurate idea of the toxicological potential of the substances we handle. SDSs are created for every hazardous chemical substance sold in Europe and worldwide. They must be available in the user's language. They must be supplied by the chemical substance supplier when the order is placed. They can also be consulted on the websites of suppliers or of certain regulatory bodies (poison control centers, INRS, etc.).

Reading an SDS follows a logical path, providing available information on the properties of the substance and the means used to handle it.
