8. Intrinsic performance of pollution control techniques
The intrinsic performance of remediation techniques and curative actions must be taken into consideration first and foremost, by focusing on the total or partial elimination of the source of pollution and secondly on that of its impact (at technically and economically acceptable costs).
Given the hydrogeological context, the site layout and the characteristics of the pollutants, we need to consider which techniques are potentially applicable, and then the intrinsic performance of the selected techniques.
The main types of pollution control are presented in the next chapter.
