11. Waste transport

The legislative arsenal governing the transport of waste has been considerably strengthened in recent years, for both hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

Each waste producer remains responsible for the conditions under which its residues are collected and transported. Special waste, because of its hazardous or toxic nature, must be rigorously managed from the outset.

In general, waste is not treated on the site of the industrial process that produced it. The specialization of waste treatment and temporary or final storage sites therefore leads to transport, and even trading or brokerage between operators.

This waste transport activity is subject to a number of regulatory obligations:

  • declaration of the company to the prefect of the department in which its head office...
