10. Regulations specific to non-process waste

10.1 Packaging waste

Since 1995, all packaging waste producers have been legally obliged to sort and recycle their packaging waste, unless they produce less than 1,100 L/week and their waste is collected by the Public Service (decree no. 94609 of July 13, 1994).

This sorting and recovery obligation has been extended to 5 streams: paper/cardboard, metal, plastic, glass and wood (Decree no. 2016-288 of March 10, 2016). It is possible to leave one or more of these streams mixed together if the treatment provider ensures their subsequent sorting and recovery. Every year, the treatment provider provides the waste producer with a certificate stating the quantity and nature of the waste entrusted to it for recovery.
