6. By-product concept

A "by-product" is a substance or object resulting from a production process whose primary purpose is not the production of the said good, and which meets four conditions:

  • further use of the certain substance or object ;

  • use of the substance or object directly without further processing other than standard industrial practices;

  • production of the substance or object as an integral part of a production process;

  • lawful further use, i.e. the substance or object meets all relevant product, environmental and health protection requirements for the specific use and will not have an overall harmful impact on the environment or human health.
