12. Conclusion

Under current regulations, it is possible to re-use waste as long as it is inert or non-hazardous. Within this framework, producers may or may not request to be removed from waste status, bearing in mind that removal from this status entails the application of REACH regulations.

In the future, manufacturers will have to limit waste production through upstream actions, by designing products that generate less waste, or by encouraging re-use in the process or even in other industrial sectors.

Regulations governing hazardous waste are restrictive, especially if they present risks of health impact or environmental impact on CO 2 emissions and the greenhouse effect (ozone hole).
