10. Conclusion

Chemists have always sought to control or accelerate processes, whether chemical or biological, by means of mechanical, thermal or electromagnetic energy flow. The simple act of heating or mixing a reaction medium is one such means of control.

Technological advances have given rise to even more specific applications that are now used in our everyday lives. Microwave heating, for example, contributes to this control, while reducing energy consumption to a minimum through the selectivity of their action. Their interactions with the reaction medium induce mechanical and thermal actions that take place within the medium itself.
