12. Subsequent treatments

It's only when all these actions to reduce pollution and consumption at source have been carried out that pretreatment and actual treatment can be considered, thus avoiding as far as possible the under-sizing of systems and the situation where a treatment system that has been oversized is underloaded, malfunctioning and costly. It should also be noted that the works must take into account the likely evolution of the plant's activities.

There are several possible scenarios: direct discharge into the natural environment, land application of raw water, pre-treatment followed by connection to a collective wastewater treatment plant, complete treatment on site or shared with other manufacturers.
