1. Knowledge of the park

1.1 Inventory

The first thing to do is to draw up a complete list of measuring equipment, including that which is never used and that which is no longer in working order. This is the time to make initial contact with users, to get to know them and try to "anticipate" their difficulties. At the same time, it's important to record the assignments (places and/or people) and the owners (within the regulatory framework) of the measuring equipment.

The equipment inventory is very useful for the following reasons:

  • it defines the policy to be implemented by the metrology function in relation to the size and scope of the fleet;
