3. Governance of the PPRM

As early as 1998, as part of the preparations for the law of March 30, 1999, the French government sought to bring together its competencies in the field of soil and subsoil, on the one hand, and risk management, on the other.

A public interest grouping (GIP) formed by BRGM and INERIS, called GEODERIS, was set up to provide assistance and expertise to the various government departments in the field of post-mining.

It is within this framework that GEODERIS contributes, among other things, to the establishment of mine risk prevention plans, as a public expert for post-mining risks, in partnership with the DREAL and DDT of the territories concerned and in consultation with elected representatives and local authorities, and even other structures (CSTB).
