Subsidence

Progressive surface deformation resulting from the collapse of a cavity located at a medium or great depth.

Hazard

A natural or man-made phenomenon with a given probability of occurrence and intensity. The hazard corresponds to the intersection between the intensity of the expected event and its probability of occurrence. Thus, a low hazard may correspond to different configurations: medium probability and very low intensity, or very low probability and medium intensity.

Mining hazards

Hazards resulting from mining operations, such as surface ground movements (sinkholes, collapses, subsidence, settling), changes in water flow, gas emissions, etc.
