4. Preliminary studies

4.1 Work by GEODERIS

Once the list of municipalities in France concerned by the inventory of mining risks has been drawn up and is known, GEODERIS is responsible for carrying out a study to assess mining hazards in the deposits concerned. These studies are carried out in accordance with programs drawn up by GEODERIS' national department, and managed by the French Ministry of the Environment's Direction Générale de la Prévention des Risques (DGPR), which also provides funding.

The result is an informative map showing the identification and location of hazards and their rating (low, medium or high).

They are likely to be the basis for prefectoral decisions to draw up mine risk prevention plans (PPRM). They may require reconnaissance work...
