6. Equipment maintenance

Equipment maintenance guarantees the availability and good working order of laboratory equipment.

There are two types of maintenance:

  • corrective maintenance, carried out when equipment breaks down;

  • preventive maintenance, which is carried out before the equipment breaks down, or periodically to avoid breakdowns.

The frame of reference ISO 17025 -2017 urges laboratories to put in place quality measures for preventive maintenance in order to anticipate metrological drifts.
