4. National Safety Authorities (NSA)
The fundamental mission of an ANS is to issue the authorizations required to operate rail services on the rail network of the country concerned, to monitor the proper use of the authorizations issued, to ensure that the level of safety on the national rail network is maintained, to contribute to the development of safety regulations and to participate in the work of the European Railway Agency.
