Lean Startup was defined in 2008 by Eric Ries , Silicon Valley entrepreneur and founder of IMVU.
It was while studying the manufacturing industry, which was the origin of the vast majority of modern management theories, that Eric Ries became interested in the "lean" production management method developed in the 1980s at car manufacturer Toyota.
Rooted in Toyotism, the lean approach aims for performance and continuous improvement by minimizing waste on the production line.
