8. Conclusion
French environmental noise regulations have changed little since the late 1990s. The close proximity of foundries to residential areas can be a breeding ground for noise-related conflicts. There are many ways to control noise, but every noise problem is different and every site is site-specific.
When purchasing new machines or tools, supplier specifications should include a section on noise, to encourage manufacturers to persevere in reducing the noise levels of foundry equipment.
