National committees manage the Commission's interests, assets and finances.
The CIE is governed by a General Assembly comprising the presidents of the national committees or their representatives. It elects a bureau comprising a president, the outgoing president (for the first two years following the end of his term of office), the president-elect (for the two years preceding his term of office), several vice-presidents, a secretary and a treasurer.
The powers of this assembly are precisely delimited by the by-laws, and any decision of any importance whatsoever must be submitted to a vote of all the national committees, who ratify or reject it, by a majority rate set by the by-laws according to the nature of the decision to be taken.
