The content of this section is based primarily on [3] , as well as on all 3GPP technical specifications for GPRS, in particular [8] to [16] .

4.1 GPRS physical channels: PDCH

These are the physical GSM channels used for packet transmission, as shown in figure 3 . A certain number of these channels are reserved for use by GPRS. These channels are called PDCH: Packet Data Channel.
