1. Different types of UPS

Uninterruptible power supplies can be divided into 3 categories.

1.1 Passive or passive standby UPS

In everyday language, these UPS systems are referred to as Off-Line. In this interface system, shown in figure 1 , the load is fed normally from the mains. The load is switched to the emergency DC/AC converter/battery when the mains voltage and frequency are incompatible with the load.

Switching time between the two channels is of the order of 10 ms.

The charger recharges and maintains the battery's charge.
