Extensive domestic wastewater treatment techniques (figure 1 ) are alternatives to conventional techniques (activated sludge, biofilters, membranes, etc.). They are based on a more developed use of biological processes and renewable energies. As with intensive techniques, they can be divided into fixed and free cultures.
