6. Metallurgy of MAG welding of THR steels

Optimizing the welding of THR steels requires a good understanding of the metallurgical mechanisms that determine the level of pull-out strength and the mode of weld fracture. As far as thermal simulation of arc welding is concerned, there is no tool that can properly simulate the thermal properties of MAG welding. On the other hand, we now have tools that can reproduce the thermomechanical cycles undergone by the welded zone, such as the Gleeble thermomechanical simulator.
