4. Welding criteria

The shape and size of a weld, as shown in figure 13 , require compliance with precise geometric criteria. For the most part, these geometric criteria are included in the manufacturers' specifications. For example :

  • the molten zone must have a penetration rate of between 10 and 20% of the thickness of the thinnest sheet;

  • the thickness of the connection (EDL) must be at least 80% of the thickness of the upper sheet.
