8. Seal performance

This depends on the structure adopted and the quality of manufacture. Under standard operating conditions (e.g. 4° at 3,000 rpm), a universal joint with swivel on needles 6.1 has an efficiency of over 99.9%, which does not deteriorate with use. This efficiency decreases very slightly with increasing working angle and rotation speed. It is normally independent of the value of the torque transmitted, although there is a clear drop at low and very high torque.
