11. Half-transmission
A half-transmission is a mechanical device designed to drive a transmission (in rotation and under torque) from a shaft (or vice versa), or even from another half-transmission (the elements to be joined can, within fairly strict limits, assume any relative displacements) comprising a centered universal joint associated with a shaft, generally tubular, which is extended by an end piece, which rotates in a support assembly called an intermediate bearing.
Axial and transverse isostaticity is achieved thanks to the bearing characteristics (see below).
