10. Transmission
This is the form in which universal joints are most often used (figure 17 ).
A transmission is a mechanical device designed to drive (in rotation and under torque) a driven shaft from a driving shaft (the two shafts having, within certain limits, any relative displacement) and comprising two centered universal joints joined by a shaft, generally tubular, and a sliding device.
