6.1 Introduction to Call Reaction
Another nucleophilic substitution reaction promoted by phosphines is the Appel reaction . In this transformation, alcohols (R 3 C-OH) are converted to alkyl halides (R 3 C-X), using a stoichiometric amount of triphenylphosphine.
