4.1 Bifidogenic role
In ex-vivo human fecal fermentation, it has been demonstrated that Lactobacillus LB has strong bifidogenic activity; Similarly, Saccharomyces boulardii stimulates the growth of bifidobacteria, which is not unexpected since it has already been shown that supplementation with 0.1% Saccharomyces cerevisiae cell wall extracts containing 99.54% β-glucans has the same ability to activate the growth of bifidobacteria in infant formula
