4. Hazardous materials packaging
This packaging corresponds to category 8 of the SEI specifications. They concern products classified as "dangerous goods" which, by their nature, require specific packaging and regulated packaging depending on the mode of transport used, i.e. :
Land transport: CITMD and OCTI regulations / ROI and ADR codes;
maritime transport: IMO regulations / IMDG code ;
air transport: ICAO regulations / IATA code.

Organization of the profession
Packers have a long history in France.
In 1521, under the reign of François 1 er , the statutes governing the profession are mentioned, under the terms "layetier écrinier" and then "layetier emballeur" (the term "layette" was used to designate boxes incorporating trays for storing linen).
