Victor YZERD: Specialized master's degree in industrial logistics from Institut Supérieur de Logistique Industrielle - GT Logistics - Deputy Site Manager
INTRODUCTION
This article presents the case of Smurfit Cellulose du Pin (SCP), a major player in the paper industry, with several production and distribution sites in Europe. Its logistics challenges are complex, as it has to adapt to the specific requirements of each of its customers. Their expectations are very diverse: paper and storage quality, packaging and shipping methods, or traceability of information and products... As the shipping department plays a strategic role in the realization of the product sold, the choice of outsourcing the service to a service provider group was the subject of an in-depth study: drafting the specifications, drawing up the contract and implementing the service. For a number of reasons, the service provider chosen was GT Logistics, the logistics arm of the family-owned GT Group.
This article is a retranscription of the observation of the outsourcing process and a summary of the crucial elements that emerged.
The interest of this development is, therefore, to confront the theoretical aspects described in the article with reality. Logistics outsourcing and observe their verification.
