1. The outsourcing decision

As we have seen ( § 2), the choice of outsourcing is based on three distinct rationales:

  • logic of refocusing the business;

  • cost logic ;

  • value creation logic.

In the context of SCP's outsourcing of its shipping department, the following observation can be made: the three logics mentioned are not sufficient in themselves, but form a whole. As a result, the choice of outsourcing is not clearly linked to any one of them alone, but is motivated by all three.
