9. Inflammation and combustion of ionic liquids
Bigler Jones et al. report self-sustained combustion of 1-ethyl-4,5-dimethyltetrazolium tetranitratoaluminate by heating the ionic liquid to around 200°C. An ignition delay of a few seconds is measured, and the observed ignition is described as spectacular. According to Bigler Jones et al. , this ionic liquid, as a monergol, performs better than hydrazine. Li and Litzinger
