Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA); Analyse thermique différentielle (ATD)

Differential thermal analysis of a substance in a given temperature range consists in characterizing the thermicity of the transformations and reactions it undergoes, by measuring the temperature difference between a sample of this substance and a thermally inert reference when the sample + reference set is placed in an oven whose temperature varies over time in the temperature range under consideration. In the absence of any transformation (change of physical state) or reaction, the temperature of the sample rises at the same rate as that of the reference. The signal remains zero. Otherwise, a peak indicates the existence of endothermic or exothermic transformations or reactions.

Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA); Analyse thermogravimétrique (ATG)
