8. Cessation of activity
Operators who cease operations must notify the Prefect at least three months in advance (article R. 512-74 of the Environmental Code), and restore the site to its original condition. This deadline is extended to six months for quarries, landfills and establishments subject to financial guarantees. This obligation also applies in the event of compulsory cessation of activity.
8.1 Mandatory cessation of activity
The operator may lose his right to operate in several cases:
elimination of the classified facility by decree of the Conseil d'État (article L. 514-7 of the Environment Code);
installation temporarily out of use, following a fire, an explosion or any other accident resulting...
