Business travel and commuting are very important aspects of mobility. The environmental impact of such movements is severe. It is thus in the interest of companies, as well as employees and local communities to control them so as to minimize their impact. This article presents the advantage, content and implementation of a company travel plan. Initially reserved for large companies, the CTP has been extended to SMEs.

INTRODUCTION
While the effects of changes in working hours and an ageing population are changing the way the French travel, the fact remains that business and home-to-work trips are still very important.
For companies, creating parking spaces represents a major cost and takes up unproductive space, while the difficulties involved in getting around cause stress and delays for employees.
As far as employees are concerned, in a context of ever-increasing travel costs, optimizing their mobility is becoming a real financial challenge.
Finally, for local authorities, the concentration of these trips over limited time periods contributes to the saturation of road and public transport networks, greenhouse gas emissions and increased road safety...
Awareness of the challenges posed by transport issues has led France, along with many other European countries, to introduce regulatory and legislative tools to encourage the development of ecomobility approaches, particularly in light of the Kyoto and Rio+20 commitments. For example, the Transport Code, which succeeded the LOTI (loi d'orientation sur les transports intérieurs) and the LAURE (loi sur l'air et l'utilisation rationnelle de l'énergie), and which requires local authorities with more than 100,000 inhabitants to draw up an urban travel plan, calls for PDUs to deal with "improving transport for the staff of companies and public authorities, by encouraging them to draw up a mobility plan and to encourage their staff to use public transport and car-sharing".
These mobility plans are classically grouped under the term "PDE", which originally stood for "plan de déplacements entreprises" (company travel plan), and today are more commonly referred to as "plan de déplacements établissements" (establishment travel plan), to include administrations, local authorities and shopping centers.
But beyond transport issues, for those who implement such schemes, MPs are a new organizational and management tool, helping to improve the company's performance and enhance its eco-citizenship.
The measures adopted for the implementation of an MP aim to limit the use of private cars by developing alternative means of transport, such as walking, cycling, public transport, carpooling, car-sharing, etc.
