Judicial and administrative jurisdictions
  • There are two types of jurisdiction:

    • the judiciary, which is responsible for settling disputes between private individuals and punishing those who break criminal law. This order comprises two categories of jurisdiction:

      • civil courts (which do not impose penalties, but settle family and consumer disputes, etc.),

      • the criminal courts, which punish offences against persons, property and society;

    • the competent administrative authority whenever a public body (government department, local authority, public company) is involved.
