5. Project basics

The creation or improvement of a production tool is generally a response to the intention to manufacture a new product, or at least to modify the quality of an existing product. Framing the problem correctly means first and foremost knowing what the company wants to produce, and the constraints it imposes on itself, or are imposed on it, in order to produce it.

The basic data will show :

  • Product-related information (ingredients, recipe, qualitative and quantitative objectives);

  • the existing process in the form of an operating diagram;

  • material, energy and personnel flows in each zone ;

  • unchanging constraints and requirements.
