5. Enteral nutrition

In this type of food, the relationship with the food industry is very close. All the nutrient mixtures used are now produced by the industry, whereas just a few years ago they were prepared by hand in processing plants.

5.1 Approach and equipment

There are five different approaches used in enteral nutrition today:

  • nasogastric route;

  • nasoduodenal route;

  • naso-jejunal route;

  • gastrostomy;

  • jejunostomy.

Use of the nasal channel is perfectly compatible with patient comfort.
