We will classify them into two main groups:
techniques that do not involve a thermal effect;
those for which heat production remains the main manifestation.
The first category includes :
membrane technology, in which electricity is used to transfer fluids through filter media;
ionization;
ultraviolet radiation ;
high pressure ;
pulsed electric fields ;
pulsed light.
