4. Transformer measurement
The characterization of a transformer (equivalent diagram shown in figure ) requires several measurements. Primary and secondary inductances are measured directly by applying the transformer's primary and secondary windings to the inductance meter. Both measurements are made when the winding not in use is left open. The leakage inductance (or coupling coefficient, depending on the model chosen) is measured on the primary or secondary side when the unused winding is short-circuited.
