5. Measuring mechanical quantities
Passive electromechanical components (potentiometers, switches, connectors) have mechanical characteristics that need to be measured (torque, coupling or extraction force, dimensions, weight, etc.).
The methods used to measure these quantities are simple, and largely rely on torque transducers that either supply the measured quantity (torque or force) directly, or transmit it in coded form to a computer system.
In the following section, we describe MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical System) and relay measurements.
