6. Conclusion

Vibrations, shocks and noise encountered on industrial structures have internal and external consequences in a variety of fields. They therefore need to be taken into consideration:

  • in theory, based on the structure project ;

  • in practice, throughout the structure's operating life, from integration and start-up, right through to retirement.

We understand that any structure, no matter how carefully designed, has a large number of inherent modes, making it particularly sensitive to any vibratory excitation whose frequency is close to its own. And that any mechanism, however well designed, is a source of vibrations.
