4. Case study 2: remedying structural degradation caused by vibration in an industrial plant

After a few years of operation, most of the six air cooler units of a major industrial plant (figure 8 ) were showing signs of cracking that the operator considered alarming, and were also requiring abnormally high maintenance costs to meet the reliability and availability requirements of the chemical processing units that depended on them. We were therefore called in to carry out an in-depth assessment.
