8. Calculation and sizing

We have seen the main general rules of calculation and dimensioning in paragraph 3 of article .

For shipbuilding, there are specific rules, in particular the Groupement des Plastiques Renforcés du Marché Commun (GPRMC) regulations of 1972, and Lloyd's Statement of Acceptance and Bureau Veritas approvals.

For laminate assembly, the GPRMC regulations recommend tapered lamination, with overlap between successive layers of at least 25 mm for a 600 g/m 2 mat laminate, 20 mm for a 450 g/m 2 mat and 15 mm for a 300 g/m 2 mat, and a number of layers at least equal to that of the base laminate.
