1.1 Effort transfer
Stress transfer within a bonded connection in simple shear is illustrated in figure 1 . Both structural elements are subjected to tensile forces. For simplicity, the kinematics are reduced to the fields of longitudinal displacement in the substrates. Relative displacement at the interfaces between the adhesive and the structural element generates shear deformation in the adhesive at all overlap points.
