9. Window manufacturing

The manufacture of wooden windows essentially involves joining the four corners of the frame uprights. These corners are prepared using various techniques to strengthen the joints, combining mechanical assembly and gluing, since here too the joints are subject to fatigue and torsion when opening and closing:

  • tenons et moraises, see (in the Techniques de l'Ingénieur collection) the file dealing with "la mise en œuvre du bois", which contains several tables explaining the various ways of assembling wood and the mechanical resistances that can be expected;
