4. Particleboard
Particleboard is the recovery of small wood particles, obtained from small trunks and branches, which are then dried (water content 1-3%) and agglomerated, usually with urea-formaldehyde binders. These panels are used for a variety of interior applications: partitions, low-cost furniture, store fittings, kitchens and building panels.
Binder content is generally 7 to 9% dry binder by dry particle mass. The density of particleboard is 400 to 800 kg/m 3 , so binder consumption is 30 to 70 kg/m 3 . This binder consumption represents the world's largest market for thermosetting adhesives.
