The practice of corrosion expertise is an all-encompassing task, involving theoretical aspects (selection of analytical methods, review of the literature, search for mechanisms), practical aspects (taking the necessary and sufficient samples) and human aspects (communicating with those in possession of the relevant information).
Corrosion expertise calls on multidisciplinary skills, and the extent to which these are mobilized depends on the specific case. When it forms the basis for the implementation of solutions and repairs, it is essential that the various mechanical, physicochemical and even microbiological aspects are dealt with according to the rules of the trade, using the knowledge and tools available at the time of the assessment.
