3. Examples of corrosion damage analysis
3.1 Copper tube cracking
A leak was detected in a refrigeration circuit, in the copper piping connecting the refrigeration unit to the equipment to be cooled, a few metres apart. The copper piping runs in an uncovered gutter filled with sand. The leak is linked to cracking of the copper tubes (figure 6 ); pitting is also visible.
