6. Veneer
In the chemical industry, zirconium is often used as a lining for steel tanks, to benefit from both the mechanical strength of steel and the corrosion resistance of zirconium. Since it is impossible to weld zirconium directly onto steel, the explosive plating technique is used. . A specific standard has been established for the alloy 700 used (ASTM B551).
