1. Raw materials parks

Steelworks are mainly supplied with heavy materials (ore, coal, coke, limestone, slagging agents, etc.) and scrap.

1.1 Weighted material fleets

Transported mainly by sea, waterway and rail, heavy materials are unloaded, stored in piles and then picked up by shovel-wheelers. In windy regions (such as the seaside), these operations, and especially storage, generate a lot of dust.

For example, for a 4 Mt/year integrated plant, storage equivalent to 2 months' operation involves 1 Mt of hematite ore and 350,000 t of coal, occupying some 170,000 m 2 ; the corresponding emissions can be of the order of :
